Experts assess that Portugal needs over 300,000 blood donors to maintain the current level of blood supply. In 2022 there were an estimated 243,614 donors including 32,930 new donors. The aim of this website is to digitalise the public blood donation service within Portugal, making blood donation much easier and more accessible with far less friction to incentivise the public to give blood. The public will be able to find and book blood donation appointments. Medical staff will review and accept a member of the public's application online as well as book on and provide training sessions.

A new blood donor portal

What is are approach? Building on a solid foundation

Jigital do good work!  So rather than re-inventing our wheel, Jigital take a foundation website as a starting point.  This will include features such a header, footer, listing page and search features. 

Jigital builds on top on this foundation allowing them to deliver value at a lower price and better quality than their competitors.

Column layout for Umbraco Forms

Form fields needed to be added in a 'column' layout across the page.  Umbraco has stopped supporting this with its 'default theme' style sheet out of the box.. which meant...

We created our own fields and implemented a few clever techniques to allow an Umbraco user to make a column layout with the bare minimum of knowledge.

Content managed popup boxes configured in Umbraco Forms

This was a tricky one!  Umbraco Forms provides no support for a 'pop up' text out of the box and even less so when the popup needs to work under certain conditions and contain rich text.


What we came up with was the ability for an Umbraco user to create 'popup' content in the content tree and link that content to the Umbraco Form.  The Umbraco user can also select which item in the list the popup will display on.   This becomes very powerful when you combine it, with the 'out of the box' conditional function such as only showing the 'continue' button when a certain item is clicked in the list
